Gentles,

Definitely this engine was - at some time of his life - victim of sabotage.

All gears witness damage of chewing nails. Remember I found one at upper tappet guide?

Governor gear also shows some dents of chewing nails.

Gave some file to smooth all the teeth of crank pinion, intermediate oil pump gear and oil pump gear.

A stack of 4 basket gives an idea of the bits waiting to go on the engine.

2 pics to the show.

Cheers

Gentles,

While bits are at machinist company, ordered a few more bits to the CD. A temp gauge and a stop over load.

The stop over load ended up to be the triple of price due to customs. And I got to make new one from scratch because Brits sent a 6mm bolt instead of 3/16.

A few pics to the show.

Cheers

Ola Pedro ? i assume Pedro from your forum name.
I am from England but lived in Portugal for 11 years now... i looked at your first pictures you posted and thought the wall in the background looked very Portuguese xisto, and the wheels on the cart also looked like some i have here.
I have a CS12-2 already on the farm when we moved here and is used to pump water.
I'm in the Castelo Branco region and have a guy in the city with a small engine repair shop, chainsaws etc. when is howed him my Lister he said he used to make bearings for them at his work shop and he also has some new, in bags, original parts.
I have enjoyed reading story and look forward to hearing you report, she is alive!!
tudo de bom

Hi Newbie, Gentles

Small engines shop and a 12/2 does not match.

Please, place here a pic of the plate number. Dursleys doesn't have any bearing but only bushes... and mains are babbitt.

But who Am I to judge!

Cheers

Good Morning, Sir Pedrosa :D

The man says he has several types of Listers, i assume at his home, not in the small shop, he said he bought them from the old olive mills when they changed to electric motors. he said he used to pour new babbitt bushes and worked them on a lathe, sorry my mistake calling them bearings.

he has a original old stock fuel filter which i am waiting for him to find, so i can but it.

I have a photo of my number plate here in my post.... https://listerengine.com/smf/index.php?topic=10044.0

I have seen your video on youtube of your 12-2, very nice, parabens !!

If you can give me any advice i would be very grateful.
And soon i am going back to the UK and will be buying parts from Stationary Engine Parts and bringing them back by car, if you need anything i can always bring some extra parts with me, to save the import duty.

We dont live that far apart.

All the best

Hi Newbie, Gentles

You can see my signature at the end is VP (means Valdemar Pedrosa).

FWIW, there is no need to spend mouney on a bick filter. The solution I made to this CD is good enough.

And the vids are showing the engine has a good run condition.

In my hands just give to it a decoke maintenance, to see the slak of the main shaft, piston rings, conrods clearence. Clean injection pumps if the real need it.

As a runing engine I wood - with the knowledge I got now - not disturbe too munch the machine.

Keep giving news.

Cheers

Dursleys doesn't have any bearing but only bushes... and mains are babbitt.

You can buy the crankshaft bushings: https://www.stationaryengineparts.com/lister-cs-crankshaft-bearing-parts

They describe them as "white metal" - is that babbitt? At least you don't need to pour it in place...

Big ends are standard split bearings. I'm guessing the little end is a bronze bushing, but that appears to be unobtanium.
Cheers!
Ade.

Hi Adev
I can see the small end bronze bushing for sale listed on their site  :)
https://www.stationaryengineparts.com/Lister-CS-Small-End-Bush-5-1-6-1-8-1-10-2-12-2-and-16-2.html

Yes, normally the white metal is babbitt, well it always was in old cars
