High voltage on ST2
(1/1)
hatrack:
Hi. I have a Lister ST2 with an unknown alternator and Kenrahn protection circuit, which was previously used as pump supply. I was told its 12KVA, but I don't believe that. It has the bridge rectifier with dropping resistor to regulate field. I'm in Australia so want 240VAC at 50Hz. But I'm getting 280VAC under load with a true RMS meter. The frequency is spot on. The resistor is 2K2 5W chassis mount. My question is how much current would flow through the excitation windings? Do I increase the resistance, or I was thinking of wiring in a pot, but what wattage? Or can someone explain how to wire in a cheap AVR. Thanks
