Restore a MACAL M70 - 1982 - Casal engine 50cc

(1/1)

sirpedrosa:
Gentles,

Hoping this is the correct room to put my new toy, let's go to some history and a few pics.

The 90's were gone a long a go, and at that time I owned a ciclemotor (let's call it like so, if its <50cc), because motorcycle - here's >50cc

It was a CASAL BOSS (2 speed), as 6th pic show. But... But... the 90's gone, and I sold it a few years after, to buy a scooter Susuki, after that a Honda CB500. Since 2004 there is no 2 wheels in home.

Of course with more time, now, and with some coins to throw south, saw the oportunity to restore this old model. This restoration end up expensive, because you need to take almost all bits to sandblast, to polish, to paint, to chrome, to made new seat... etc.

Disassemble and assemble its easy. Sourcing new parts looks terrible also.

You all ready saw the raw toy, and here it go more pics from last evening stripping her.

Take a look.

A few more pics...

Rats made a nest in center of frame and ate wires.  ;D ;D

got to source new fly and pinion cover. Its broken, maybe a chain jammed a broke it.

Frame serial number plate and make year - 1982

Engine number plate. Says 1974, maybe original engine was replaced by a used one at some point.

More pics to come.

sirpedrosa:
And finally,

A few pics how we want it to get at final.

Cheers
VP

PS: Forgot to tell the elder son bought last JUN2023, a Honda Hornet 750cc, like 6th pic.

VP, what a beauty. I so look forward to seeing the progress as it happens. That rusty seat will be an issue wihout putting hours of work into fabricating and welding. Dont mention rats eating wiring again please. It just cost us AU$930.00 to have a rat eaten 240v ligthting cable found and replaced in the roof of our 115 year old house. Could have spent that mone on fuel towing our caravan around ouir beautiful Country.
That bike is totally unheard of out here and I do like the look and style of it. No doubt with your skills, one day, it will be as beautiful as it was when new.
Cheers JG
