40/1....?
« on: December 31, 2005, 09:40:22 PM »
After playing with the turbo calc I was able to get around 40 HP from a one cylinder running at 1000 RPM (running at 650 RPM would cause the turbo to cross into the surge region of the map).

This would require using two GT15 turbos to compound the boost to 44.1 PSI, and the use of an intercooler or water injection.

I was able get a simalar result on a 12/2 at 650 RPM with 44.1 PSI boost. This is of course if their is sutable exhaust gas mass flow to support the level of boost.

About 60 years is all it takes to make science fiction a reality.

 ;D
Ha ha! Hey that would be a lot easier to do with the 3.3liter 20/1 from Topland. It might actually stand up to it, if you get it with the bush bearings, run 50 wt. oil, plumb in an oil pump, etc.  ::)

Cheers,
Jim

Wouldn't it be cheaper/easier to buy a Lanz Bulldog  or similar tractor?  :D 40Hp, 600rpm,runs on anything. Ok its a 2 stroke, but you can't have everything! Doesn't even need a concrete block ;D ;D (I hope I'm not going to regret that!)
Now if they were being made in india....

Cheers,

Brian

I'd be curious about the injection setup needed to get the amount of fuel needed in there for that kind of (short lived) output.

What's the max delivery capacity of a listeroid injector pump? Obviously it can overfuel a bit , or you wouldn't get black smoke at full load and RPM. Could it handle the delivery of whatever fuel's needed when you cram a few extra atmospheres into the cylinder before compression, or would your 40/1 top out at 30 because of fuel issues?

Forget the nitrous, I hear LPG's pretty good for this kind of craziness though. Well, another 30% or so power anyway.

I was thinking along the lines of a small atoll out in the pacific somewhere.
Which one did the french use for their nuke tests? Bikini Atoll?  Sounds perfect! ;)
