which engine oil for the lister D

Which engine oil is best to use for my lister D on petrol?
will soon be converted to gas.

Do  not use any synthetic oils.
Remember these engines were built a long time ago and I only use SAE30 in all my petrol/kero engines. There are newer oils that are lighter but I simply dont like or trust them.
In cold climate you can use a lighter SAE oil or in hit climate go heavier. I get both extremes here and stick with the SAE30

is 1 liter enough?

Not sure of quantity for your engine. It will either have a dip stick in the filler hole or a flat section just below the opening. Do a Google search for a manual for your engine, it is surprising what can turn up for free. Sorry that I cant offer any more than that but other members will log in and be ab le to help more than me.
I only have 1 Lister, a CD 8Hp tropical model and it has a dry sump set up
