Checking out the paint and decal on the cylinder heads. It looks like the light green was painted over everything including the decal. The decal looks like its silver and not a decal but a silkscreen. The original Paint looks more like slate Grey!

It could be. I have seen what appeared to be orignal paint jobs in a couple of shades of blue, yellow/orange, and several shades of Gray or Grey as the Brits call it. A lot of their Marine destined products seem to be shades of Blue or Gray. Then again I would bet that Lister would paint them just about any color one may want if asked to do so with enough volume.

In the H to R book, it says the original paint often turns dark grey. And when I look closer at the Lister label on the head I can see wrinkles in the lettering that does not pass the letter edge.. So It is probably a decal. Seems the color book that I received has the correct color but the sample is only .5x1.25 in size. Not large enough to get a read from the computer to make a formula. If anyone in England or Australia can get there hands on a Swatch Or Spray Out of "Mid-Brunswick Green, BS Spec. 381C Shade 226" as big as 4x4 inch I Will Pay (I'm doing a Lot of that Lately) For The sample to be sent to me!! Please Advise and Thank YOU!!

So I'm chasing down this color
BS Mid Brunswick Green spec 381C Shade 226
So I'm talking to the guy at MyPerfectColor.com
and he can't find it any where as I throw all the above numbers at him and I say I find it hard to believe a color that is on literally a million engines is not in you files.
He said hold on ............
He came back and said
He has an old swatch deck and that it has All the Old BS Numbers like 100 of them and they Are Not Listed On the Site and he Never Knew He Had Them and looks like he's been loosing a lot of customers and Money!!
He said he would post them all on his website so now you can get
BS Mid Brunswick Green Spec 381C Shade 226 on his site. IN NJ, USA!!!!
YOUR WELCOME!!!

Very nice find.. What type of paint is it? Acrylic enamel with activator? Urethane with activator?
Alkyld enamel? (oil based) yuck.

I should also say that if you are building a show type engine for people to look at.. You can use any chemistry type paint you want I imagine.. You gonna build a runner that you spent alot of time and money on cheaping out on paint seems wrong imho.. I am sure it will look great..

Very Nice! I have been on the lookout for a Kohler light plant for years. They just never seem to pop up on the East Coast. I would love to find one of the 1200-1500 watt units with the OHV engine.

Awesome find on the paint too! Thanks for the info. I'm sure that will make a lot of people happy.
