I am fitting new brushes, as supplied by
www.stationaryengineparts.com here in the UK. The old brushes were well worn down. The new ones are a good fit but when seated square in the holder, are not running radius to radius on the slip ring surface. Forgive me for asking such a simple question; am I correct to just move the new brush in the holder slightly so it is seated correctly on the slip ring?
I can't see any adjustment on the brush holder, and the old brushes have worn 'square' so to speak, which of course they will based on the arc of movement of the brush holder as the brushes get shorter assuming the holder end of the brush allows the brush to pivot a small amount as it wears down.
