injector not squeaking, but squirting

So,

had a few good runs - 3 to 4 hours continuous - plus a few short bursts (10 minutes of power tool use) and I did note a strange lack of injector squawk as a shut down the last time 2 weeks ago.  Then today, can't get her to fire up.  I pull the injector to check for carbon (already?) and do a bit of cleaning on the tip, just to be sure. 
I put the injector back in upside down to test, and after a few turns, I can see the mist, but it's not doing the 'squawk' that it should.  What's going on? how do I get it to fire up?

IF you are pumping the normal amount of fuel there are 4 possibilities.
1 pintle is  stuck in the tip
2 The pintle being held up off the seat by debri
3 The pop off adjustment on top has been fiddled with.
4 Or the pop off adjustment has backed off.

If you have not fiddled with the pop off adjustment place the body of the injector in a vise. Then using a proper socket or wrench remove the nut that retains the tip and as you remove the nut and tip PAY ATTENTION TO HOW THE TIP IS REGISTERED ON THE BODY VIA A PIN AND CORRESPONDING HOLE IN THE TIP.
On the flat face there is a small diameter pin protruding, this is the pintle. It should move in and out of the tip freely. Also blow the tip out to be sure there is no debris in it. Clean the injector face and tip face being certain there is no dirt on either and reassemble injector paying strict attention to capitalised instruction above and be sure the tip is aligned with the pin.  IF the pop off adjustment is correct the nut will run up freely with your fingers and stop, check the tip, it should not rotate, then when you apply the wrench the nut should turn in with the wrench a bit and abruptly stop, this is compressing the pop off spring. Then tighten. Test again out of the engine.

I did all this prior to your reply and I did get it going again, so thank you. But I do Wonder about my guilt of fiddling with it. What I see when I take that tip not off the injector is that the Chamber of the pinto sits in has two holes that correspond with two prongs on the injector body. And of course you have to make sure those two prongs fit in the two holes when putting it back together. Is that what you mean by making sure it's aligned? Also I did notice that the pinto seemed stuck when I first tried to take it out. I wiped it down as best I could and used a bit of that injector cleaner fluid sold over the counter. And it seemed to move freely with my fingers once I had it cleaned up. Besides having those holes and prongs aligned what other fiddling might I have done to mess things up?

The pin not only must move freely it must be seated in the tip AND must have proper pressure from the spring above. Sometimes the seat is damaged to the point it won't seal and thus it can't pop off, (the squak you should hear) If you have diddled with the spring pressure there is no bush fix for that. If the flat sealing surface has been damaged by dirt or misalignmemt there is no bush fix for that either.  That spring must be set on a test stand.  I can service the injector or new MICO is in stock.
