Lister SR1 oil filter conversion
« on: January 26, 2024, 06:35:10 PM »
Hi folks,

Has anyone converted a older model SR1 to use a spin-on oil filter, rather then the original cartridge filter? I'd quite like to make the upgrade if parts are obtainable. Ideally I would also add an oil pressure gauge and switch to enable a warning buzzer on low oil pressure. Mine is running a 3kVA generator with electric start so a warning buzzer or even auto shutdown should be easy enough to arrange I think, with the addition of a suitable fuel shut-off solenoid.

I'd welcome your thoughts and advice.

kind regards,

Peter.

I no longer have my SR2 engine which is virtually the same with an extra cylinder. There should be a plug you remove that accesses the oil gallery. You will need a "T" piece to be bale to run both a gauge and warning system. Not sure about the upgrade on the oil filter I dont know about but changing over the old cartridge types is just as easy to do just not as clean to do so.

Thank you. I'll check to see if I have the oil gallery plug you mentioned. If so it should be easy enough to add a oil pressure gauge and switch.
