Statomatic 4.5kva pulley/flywheel removal.
« on: October 26, 2023, 06:02:06 AM »
Hi all,

I'd like to remove the pully/flywheel from my 4.5kva startomatic alternator (to attempt to straighten the shaft). Having trouble ID'in the threads for the jacking bolts. Roughly 12mm diameter and a very coarse thread. Also can't see any other retaining devices other than the set screw above the keyway that I have already removed. Is it now just a case of jacking the pully off with the jacking bolts? Ny idea if it is an interference fit on the shaft?

Cheers,

Have you tried Whitworth? The CS engine was built with Whitworth fastners, I would assume the alternator would be as well. I don't know if maybe in later years the generator could have been Imperial/SAE. Definitely not metric though.

Gentles,

All threads in CS are BSW.

1/2" BSW if I remember correctly; unfortunately, that's the one thread size where you won't be able to jam a UNC screw in, as 1/2" BSW is 12TPI vs UNCs 13TPI.

Cheers!
