White smoke from Exhaust TX3
« on: November 05, 2023, 03:26:07 PM »
Hi, I have a TX3 in a dumper which is creating quite a bit of white smoke from the exhaust and the engine is under powered. I have checked the oil and its just under the top line as i read to much oil could be a cause.

Could this be a symptom of an failed injector and if so is it worth getting them checked. If an injector is bad can they be cleaned / fixed or do they have to be replaced, there doesn't seem to be many parts available for the TX3 anymore :-(

Thanks

Yes those are symptoms of a weak cylinder or cylinders and coyld be due to weak compression or weak pump(s) or failing injector. I would first crack lines one at a time, if your problem is on certain cylinder(s)  that will isolate it. I am not familiar with the TX but if it can be run with the exhaust manifold removed you can then see which cylinder(s) are smoking. Another way to tell if its oil smoke or half burned fuel is the smell. Oil smoke stinks but half burned fuel smoke not only stinks but is very irritating to the eyes.
