decompression parts needed
« on: October 17, 2023, 12:25:32 AM »
So my decompression holder is not working, and yes I can get new ones but for the past 10 years I have just placed a wrench under the same place as the decompression holder.

Make a long story short the nut broke sending the nut off and the compression push rod off and me to my knees.

looks like I will need to get the part that goes into the motor as the nut is broken off half way in, seems there is a site selling them for 15 dollars, but I cannot seem to find the cap that the push rod sits on

Anyone know of a source?

Thanks Andrew in Ottawa

I am looking for the Lister CS & JP Exhaust Valve Guide, Threaded and the nut that screws into it and holds the push rod

If I am understanding you correctly the parts you need are called the exhaust valve tapppet assembly. Circled in the attached picture. Do you also need the tappet guide? or just the tappet? I have these in stock in Ohio good used and new.
I assume you are talking about John Ferguson? He moved to Central America many years ago, guessing 10?

Yes, those are the parts I posted. You need a tappet and the top piece that receives the push rod. It is possible to remove the tappet without major disassembly but a bit tedious. You remove the clamp holding the tappet guides then twist and pry the exhaust tappet guide upwards and remove it. Then reach in and get the tappet. Do reverse to install.
