Another 6/1 project

This 1955 6/1 found me last summer and was committed to within days. Just now getting started on it. Probably the nicest one Ive ever had in the shop, basically untouched since it left RA Lister. No buggered bolts, no SAE hardware jammed on BSW threads, no missing pieces. Having sellers remorse, I want to keep it! Maybe the will  guy back out, LOL

Nice find 38ac. Decisions are always hard. I have to sell my CD8hp because is just too heavy for me to handle  now with 2 bad shoulders. But in the mean time I'm still rebuilding other smaller engines that I can handle. About to get a fast learning curve on welding cast iron on a cylinder block with a 5" long frost crack and is a Buzacott 3hp

Luckily I have means to handle heavy engines and heavy parts. I am also slowly getting to where the hand cranking bit will have be addressed. AGING! we can't do much about it and have to play the cards we are dealt.
 Shop work engines always present a problem because I always want to keep them!  I still do not have a 5 or 6/1 to call my own and keep my 10/2 hidden from prying eyes so as to not be tempted by offers.

That too is another issue I have, 2 bad shoulders. Both have been operated on and on e of them twice with little succss even after doing everything by the book.
Since I stripped down my CD8hp I have had it running after I belted it up to the pto belt drive and ran it for a while then actually did get to hand crank it a couple of times but have not been able to get over the compression more than  2 or 3 times since.
Yep aging can be fun  with not worrying about what people think but the side effects of all those things we did wrong when a lot younger catch up with you, bugga!

It must be a world wide problem, 'cos it's the same up here in the  Pyrenees!

I've just finished the block work for a very small generator she (3.5m by 1.5m, space is tight up here) to house the 6/1 CS bitza. Less than 3 days work a few years back, now a fortnight.....

However, as Maurice Chevalier said when asked how he viewed old age 'It's better than the alternative'

, I think old age is our premonition of hell,, thus we should do what we can to avoid that desteny,,
