Lister 3 cylinder engine stop mech
« on: September 11, 2023, 11:04:19 AM »
I've recently purchased a 1985 Belford dumper with a lister petter 3 cylinder engine, I'm currently sorting out a few problems with it, one of the problems is that the stop mech no longer works, the cable has been removed and when you operate the bit that's left nothing happens.
What should this be operating inside, if I remove it what should be there and am I likely to open a can of worms by removing it.
Any links to a diagram would be really useful

Welcome to the Forum and hopefully an answer will come soon. While waiting I would spray some WD40 or similar in and around the area.
I would best guess that when that lever is moved it shuts the fuel off by pushing the rack back to the shut position. Sometimes a pic helps with getting a reply. Have you done a Google search for a workshop manual using Peter and the model number?

Another thing that I need to sort out is a leak from the top of 2 of the 3 injector pipes, it appears to be running down the outside of the long connection, so I presume it’s whatever this screws in to.
How easy is that to get to

Ive never worked on your odel so it is a case of trial an error as to how to ghet to it. Leaking pipes is either loose fitting or dirt under the fitting or a cracked pipe. So start trying to get to them by removing what ever is in the way.
