TS2 cylinder head and top plate separation
« on: September 09, 2023, 10:39:00 AM »
Hi All, new to the forum and not a mechanic so be gentle please  :). The exhaust port on the cylinder head is broken and I have found a replacement. However I can’t work out how to separate the cylinder head from the top plate. Is this possible to do as a home project? Any helpful advice will be appreciated thank you.

Welcome to theForum. Can you sit your replacement part next to what you have and compare the difference to see if or how it seperates. Sorry I am not familiar with your problem but just throwing an idea out there.

Thanks for replying Cobba. It looks like the two pieces are joined via the valve guides, and this seems to be a very tight fit. I was hoping someone could advise how to separate without having to go to a workshop to have them pressed out. Weary about causing damage by just hammering away.

To separate the two parts of the head you will need to remove both valve guides. Not to difficult if you have access to a press.

Thanks Diesel. I thought that might be the case, however was hoping for maybe an old timers method to avoid having to pay somebody. Looks like it’s off to a workshop. Thanks for your input mate, cheers.  :)
