Alternator output

(1/1)

Rowan:
Hi,

Trying to work out if the alternator on my Lister TS2 is powerful enough to charge 3 batteries?

Output is showing on gauge as 14.0v, 0.4A when running. Currently have two 110AH batteries for fridge etc on my boat but struggles overnight even after running for 6-7 hours.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Regards

Rob

Altonx:
Have you worked out the current draw from the fridge etc?

Altonx:
Alternator should be putting out a lot more than 0.4A
I have a very low output Alternator on my boat and its a 35Amp unit.
If you have a solar panel that will confuse the reading, if the Alternator is pushing 14v through the system then there should be a considerable Amperage behind it.
If you have a solar panel disconnect it, you should then see 12.5-12.8 v roughly at the battery, run engine and check voltage at battery, you should be seeing 14v to 14,5v
