startomatic control box

(1/1)

Jase1988:
hello i have two lister startomatic control boxes. one is in good shape and less complicated than the other as in does not have the large capacitor in the center. the other is in not such good shape but has the large capacitor in the center  and two extra metal fin type things. my question i obviously i want to use the good one. so are the diffrences in boxes just diffrent years of production and will either of them work? i have seen on google images there are two diffrent boxes.. many thanks Jason.

Hi Jase, yes there where a lot of different SOM control panels. The very early units had selenium rectifiers/diodes/capacitors and large mechanical relays, as technology improved Lister started using printed circuit boards and modern silicon compomponents. Please post a couple of photos of what you have so we can give an assessment of their suitability. It would also be useful to have some idea of what you are trying to achieve.
