How to pull tap bearings off the crankshaft CS20 twin
frogmobile:
Hi! Also how to pull off the timing gear off the crankshaft (heat?)
frogmobile:
Done! I had to grind the timing gear in order to make 2 ledges so I could catch it in the press. The crankshaft is 35 kg and if it were 1 cm longer I would not have been able to set it on the press. I just wish I didn't waste 2h trying to get the bearing with the hammer and chisel.
sirpedrosa:
Frog,
Grind the timing gear???
Take a look at the wright and simple tool!
Cheers

The timing gear on the cr'shaft was fornicated hence the big repair. All timing gear had to be replaced. Grinding down the gear gave me access to the back of the bearing, enough to catch on the plates on the press then puch down the shaft. The rest was a song. Today I just replaced the new gear and the bearing, in the press. I had to make a long pipe to slide over the shaft to reach the gear/bearing. Phew!

Would you mind sharing where you found a new gear? I have a crank with a damaged gear and never could find a new one.
