Lister petter lpw3a generator from 1999

Going to look at a lpw 3A with newage generator end from 1999..low hours...anything to look out for? Good unit?

They are normally good engines and generators. The Newage alternator is  brushless machine so not a lot to go wrong, just keep the vents clean and ensure a good airflow.
The LP range of engines were a good engine but don't really like low loading. If you can run at above 50% of the output for the majority of time you will be fine. The only other thing is that the engine is fitted with hydraulic tappets so important to stick to the recommended oil change period. If this is overlooked it could cause the valves to be held open, and inthe worse case a valve could hit the piston. Does the engine run at 1500 rpm or 3000 rpm. Personally I think the 1500 rpm sets are better. At 3000 rpm the engine is just screaming away. But that is only my personal opinion.
