Looks to be an SR1, they are fairly common however there are so many similarities with LD LR SL that more detail will be needed.

That is a clockwise rotation marine propulsion unit. Uncommon. SR1

Excellent thank you for your info.can i mount a 2.5 gallon diesel tank on it and what starter would be suitable for this as you can see from the pictures it has a starter pocket on the flywheel housing

Lister made starter motors for the engines so you need a CLOCKWISE rotation starter. There is also after market high torque starters. Some need a spacer to be fitted along with the starter. Also you will need an alternator to charge the battery and  asimple switch.
If you have a parts manual for your engine it might offer a part # for the starter motor, this will give you something to look for.

Affirmative... need either a Lucas or Delco starter CW rotation. The correct Delco will bolt up without spacer (but with slight clearance grind of its mounting cone)... some of the Lucas units used a thin spacer, uncertain on the single cylinder model Lucas though. A third option was a Prestolite starter, but I have not seen any available (except used) in a very long time. Bear in mind also, that the SR may have the starter boss in the housing but won't necessarily be fitted with the flywheel ring gear. Take a look inside to confirm.
