What engine?

Can anybody identify this engine hidden in a old shed in New Zealand.

Is that Chinese symbols of the valve cover ?
See if you can scrub away the rust.

Looks like it says Lister but upside down in the photo to me.

Looks like a CD or CE from the one photo. More pics may be able to narrow it down. There should be a tag on it somewhere.

Upon further inspection the fuel pump set up looks like a CE as a CD has a single bosch style pump. CD are single cylinder CE are twin cylinder, same engine family. Never seen one in person but they look to be about twice as heavy as a comparable horsepower CS. Wouldn't mind having one to play with. I think they are 14-16 horsepower.

Wow! Standard CE is about 1400 lbs and the marine version which that looks like it may be is about 1800 lbs. That would be a bear to drag out of there.

I am pretty sure that you are correct, it is very likely a CEM model presently driving a winch set up on an old slip way.Yes she would be a real monster to move about. Discovered on a ticki-tour in New Zealand a short wile ago,going back next summer and maybe will hear it running!Thanks for your time!
