HA6 Smoke after full rebuild

<< < (2/2)

Hi everyone and thank you for your help, just wanted to give you guys an update, I did the load procedure as instructed and it worked like a charm! it took me a while to get back to you because I had to build a load bank.

I did wait a little for it to warm up about 2 to 3 minutes.

Here is a vid of the results.

Thanks again!

dkmc:

Glad to hear it! Actually diesels are meant to be loaded all the time, and glazing can occur at any time when they are
run lightly loaded or idled excessively. Your rig sounds mighty fine!

Thanks! I love how it looks and sounds, but I didn't know about the "diesels are meant to be loaded all the time" part!

I'm planing on using this girl as a backup generator for my home... only problem is that my peak energy usage (everything on) is only about 33% capacity, so the new plan is modifying the resistive load I built so it monitors load values on the output and maintains at least 30% load, do you think that would be enough for a healthy engine?

dkmc:

I believe I've read in the past where diesel engines are best run at aprox. 70-80% load.
