TENSION WRENCH SETTINGS FOR LISTEROIDS
« on: July 06, 2009, 08:39:38 AM »
Hi,

I declare my interest as a vendor of JKSon Listeroids in Australia first up.

I am trying to produce more relevant and updated manuals that show tension wrench settings
for the major components - can onyone help me out?  I drew a blank from the manufacturer so
I guess it is done "tight" and that varies on the day :)

Any guidance would be appreciated.

For anyone using a Listeroid in Australia - Penrite Oil Company recommend their Pentire Truck Mono 30
in Lister stationery engines - semi synthetics will induce glazing. If you are in my area, Coffs Harbour NSW Australia
and cant obtain the oil I will sell it you at my trade buy price.

Hi Stephen,

I do the Listeroid head bolts up to around 160-170 ft lbs.

All the best,
Matt

If you get hold of genuine Durlsey Lister torque settings, don't confuse them with the newer Indian Listeroid settings, they are different.

The listing in Georges website lists 170 ft lbs, for listeroids, whereas the data in Peter's website for Listers is 100 ft lbs. (3/4" nuts)  A big difference.

Does anyone now what the tensile strength of the bolts are on a Listeroid?

I'm guessing they'd be comparable to SAE 2.

Here's a chart that I found.

It will be the clamping force, not the turning force that is more important.  Sublte difference.

Gizmos,

Yes indeed, these engines are highly addictive! They are simple and complex at the same time.

I found Georges' advice and insight very useful, I learned allot from his CD, and I have a lifetime of learning yet to come.

The best of luck with your endeavors
