Replacing an engine
« on: January 26, 2020, 07:15:52 PM »
Would I be able to replace my ld2 for an sr2 on my Narrowboat ie would the mountings be in the same place, is it much the same size to fit the engine bay?

Thanks for the reply.  The only reason I am looking at exchanging the engine is to have increased Horse power. Would it be possible to rebore my LD2 to the size of an SR2 or is this not a viable option?

On the older highway rigs, owners would install injectors with a larger nozzle, I would not recommend this for a naturally aspirated engine.

Adding a turbo to your engine would definitely increase power.

Air cooled will be louder.  More power will be louder.

I once had an SR2M in a boat. Utterly reliable, powerful, and as loud as the engine in a destroyer at war emergency power!
The hot air could be diverted to the cockpit......that was nice on cold journeys.

The speed limit on a UK canal is 4mph.... I guess in that all important sprint from the locks, though, the extra HP might be useful
Cheers!
