New 186F 10hp Diesel engines for sale
« on: January 23, 2020, 01:04:28 PM »
I have 7 brand new 186F 10hp Diesel engines for sale. All have electric start and air intake pre-heater for ease of starting in cold weather. All are tapered shaft. And have no fuel tank. They are perfect engines to re-power existing generators or would be a nice engine for other projects. There are companies that make adaptors to convert to 1-1/16Ē straight shaft if needed.

I posted this here so members can have a opportunity to purchase.

The price is $350.00 each (less shipping).

They will arrive in Raleigh, North Carolina on January 30th. The buyer is welcome to come to Raleigh to pick them up.

If interested, send me a PM or email me at offgridbackup@gmail.com

Thanks, Henry

That's a really good price.
I have 2 of these engines on small generators.
Very reliable little units.
- 6/1 GM90 Listeroid - Delco 33si Alternator
- Changfa R175 - Lease/Neville Alternator
- Kubota Z482 - 4kw
- JiangDong R165 Air cooled - 2 kw

Going to say, i never saw one of these engines with a glow plug before but looking at the pics, its just an air heater setup.

Was that how they came from the factory or was that a diy add on?
It looks like they are just a normal glow plug rather than a proper air preheat element.

Glort thanks for pointing it out. Your right, itís an air intake pre-heater. I enlarged the picture that shows it mounted in the intake manifold and it looks like that manifold is specifically built to install a preheater. The intake manifold casting has I flat surface where the preheater is mounted. It has a contour near the outside edge of the sealing washer. I never saw a 186F with a pre-heater. But, just 20 minutes ago I got a text from a person in Pennsylvania that wanted one or two. We talked and the pre-heater did come up. He said there were a couple manufactures that had them installed. He said itís a good option in cold climates. Heís in the mountains so my guess it get pretty cold there. Well, it turns out he might buy all of them. I need to work on shipping cost. It might be cheaper to deliver them myself at a fair price. So as it stands, they might be sold.

If its just a glow plug and not a proper air heater element it would be basically useless.
I have never found these engines hatd to start even on straight veg oil .  I think the heater would be well  more gimmick than function.

Where you are it does not get cold. Cool yes. Most direct injected engines will start up easily in cool weather. The temperature gets down to -20 F. (-28 C.) at times in up state NY. When your in cold weather a starting aid is needed and diesel fuel better be treated or cut with kerosene. These 186F engines came from the factory with starting aid in place. You have not seen one yet spoke to someone that knows about them. The person that is buying 2 of them has experience with them. He seems to like them and Iím interested in it as well. He seems to know something about them more than us. He lives in a cold climate. The engine is so small compared to a automotive diesel that it might not need much. I will be looking into the system because Iím curious also. But right now Iím not going to over analyze what it is. We will see soon enough. Either way they are nice engines. And many places in this world wont need a starting aide on these engines.
