Hi just bought a lister st1 with 3.5 generator on it bought as working but when I tried it no power being produced, any help on things to check please

You made the same mistake I made, I think it gets more views if you post it in "Lister Based Generators" :D... anyway...

Did you try "exciting" it (with a battery) to see if it came to life?

You are getting views, but have not given enough information to begin to guess about the cause.  So my guess is everything
Check all the brushes
Ohm out the windings, generation and excitation.
Check the excitation rectifier
and finally as a last step, look up instructions on how to "Flash" a generator.   I use a 12V jumpstart pack and a automotive taillight bulb to limit amps.
