I have an LD2 in my Narrow boat with an oil leak from the rear crankshaft seal. Can this seal be replaced without removing the engine?

You will have to remove the flywheel and bell housing as well as sump side cover and bearing housing. How much access do you have to your engine?

Once the prop shaft is removed the flywheel etc is  accessible I think the sump could only be removed if the engine is lifted. I was hoping the sump would not require removal.I think only the sump is inaccessible plenty of room at the rear tight at the sides but possible some room at the front.
Thanks
Brian
