After returning from holiday where Lister CS engines and their Indian imitators almost grow on trees, this year in my ongoing search for more Lister engines and spares. I encountered what can only be described as an engine graveyard.

I took numerous photos, which I will share with you on this forum, there is however a catch. Before I upload the next photo, the previous photo must be correctly identified.

I will make a start with something that everyone will recognise:

I await your comments

Yup, flywheels would indicate 16/2. The fuel tank design indicates later model. The fuel lines show that it was made when Lister was still using the cast iron fuel filter and rope filter.  The last production engines had the smaller filter that used a replaceable paper cartridge, I once knew the approximate time frame for the filter switch but doesn't come to mind now >:( so I am going to say/guess Late 60s-70s vintage 16/2

Indeed its a CS 16/2, prior to the introduction of the smaller fuel filter.

Now here is the remains of an engine you don't see everyday:

This is quite obscure, so a clue is in order, it would have originated from a former Eastern block country.

There was a chap from a former Eastern Bloc country posting some videos of this or a close cousin a month or two back -  it has that cast-as-a-unit crankcase & barrel thing happening?

/\ That's close enough for me, its actually a Slavia D8 engine, they were available as a single cylinder engines  in 5, 8, 12, and 16 HP versions.

Here is a photo of its bigger brother in the background of this photo, this was a 12 HP version (see how tiny it makes the Listeriod crankcase look by comparison), the 16 HP version is considerably bigger again.

Now returning to the Lister theme, what about this:

And what about that crankcase 1/2 way up the LHS of the picture?

I think you are mistaken sire.... This is a porting job done to get rid of the excess strokes in the 2 stroke conversion championship... It immediately became evident, after the conversion, that 2 x the power only required half the number of cylinders... The cam has clearly been disconnected to improve efficiency, and the head is at the blacksmith for final shaping.... They of course, still need to drill a bunch of small holes in the cylinder and break out the center to form an exhaust port.... Come on Glort, surely you can see this...

perhaps an adaptor plate and reed block glued over the remains of the crank-case casting . . .

And one of those Keihin flat-slide carbs that performance strokers love . . . something in the 45mm range

Then again, where that old pot was makes for easy mounting of a 4 barrel holly..... Just slip a reed pack under it and away you go!! (remember a good coating of jb weld to close those small holes in the front and all should be good!)
