Witte technical library on microfilm
« on: October 12, 2015, 03:44:35 AM »
I have in my possession a significant volume (26 very long reels) of original microfilmed documents from Witte Engine Corp. - Kansas City. All microfilm dated January 3, 1968.
Included are 13 long 35mm reels of engineering drawings, service drawings, A B C and D current drawings.
Also included 10 long reels on 16mm covering parts, bills of materials, specifications, group numbers, engine models etc..
This appears to be some very significant coverage of the Witte technical history as it existed prior to January 1968.

I am aware that this material can be converted to digital or printed directly from the microfilm reels.

Any interested parties or suggestions?

That is great info, I wish I was more technically proficient on computers to help digitize them.

Also have 48 1980's and earlier Lister manuals on microfiche and 40 Lucas/CAV fuel injection reference & parts manuals on microfiche. This is the first I've seen of the Lucas/CAV materials.

The good film scanners cost around $50 grand, so time to send this stuff out for conversion I guess. Cost estimate is about $4,000 for a professional service to do it.

Hi dieselgman,

Should I assume you've contacted Arrow?  Are they still around?

That sounds like one good idea... I guess they are still using an Ajax model based on a Witte.

[Conversed briefly with Dave Johnson - Wittemania who seems to know a lot of the details about Witte and Arrow.]

Thanks!

Cheers

We are considering options... the project is beyond our practical means at the moment. Any suggestions welcome.
