7.5 st update
« on: September 21, 2015, 10:07:46 PM »
I did a cleanup, sprayed well with the red "varnish", new bearing
and added wood and epoxy shims to the loose bobbin.

I get just a little imbalance growl when the load gets up to about
10 to 12 amps on one side.....man, I'm happy with that !

This unit came with the AVR and "modern" rectifier.  Whoa, almost
forgot the DIGITAL volt/frequency meter. What will those Indians
think of next ??

Just though you guys might like an update.

Carry on,

Thanks for the thread Gary.  I have wondered if the growl in my 7.5 was caused by a slightly loose winding and you have seemed to confirm my suspicion.  I will pull mine apart before I run it much more.  It just doesn't seem right that it would make this noise just from the magnetic flux, something with mass is moving slightly  :-\ .
I pray everyday giving thanks that I have one of the "fun" mental disorders!
