SR-2 Question about replacement air filter
« on: February 22, 2014, 05:56:57 PM »
Hello,

The standard oil bath air filter on my newly acquired Lister SR-2 (1800 RPM) was damaged when I received the genset. I would rather not go back to an oil bath air cleaner. I did some measuring today, and found the OD of the intake manifold air cleaner mounting point to be about 1.885" . I can fabricate a mounting adapter from a 1-7/8" ID x 1-1/2" OD exhaust tubing adapter and a 1-1/4" pipe coupling, yeilding a 1-1/4" FMP mounting point. I'm considering a Solberg inlet filter due to their reputed quieting effect. Would this filter be suitable as far as CFM, or do I need another?

Solberg F-19P-125 Inlet Filter, 1-1/4" MPT Outlet, 6-5/8" Height, 6" Diameter, 70 SCFM

Thanks for Your Assistance

That Solberg appears more than adequate for the SR2.

A 1-7/8" OD x 1-7/8" OD exhaust tubing adapter with a pipe coupling welded inside one end, and the other end modified with six 1/8" x 1/2" slots and clamped to the intake manifold with the original air cleaner clamp. The Solberg F-19P-125 screws into the top.

Permission is hereby granted to at least chuckle at my second MIG welding project (And never apply black oil-based enamel in a very cold cellar):
