I found a set of guides like that in a 6/1 head. I wondered why the thing smoked so badly with that head.
I believe that modification was preformed by someone who has no understanding how the oiling on a Lister is supposed to work. As Butch said when the spring wells are filled correctly there is plenty of oil to the guides. Adding these holes drains the wells! Rather quickly too.
I the same order with the head was a replacement set of guides. They were machined properly to the original Lister spec with the fully shrouded exhaust valve stem. So go figure, I guess the Indians figure variety is the spice of life.
