Water Reservoir
« on: December 15, 2013, 11:16:22 PM »
Hello,

I have a Powerline 10/1 with a huge radiator attached to it. It has a 5-gallon plastic bucket for a water reservoir tank. Can someone please recommend to me what I can use as a metal reservoir tank instead of my 5-gallon plastic bucket?

Thank you,

Hugh Conway

How about the fuel tank that came with the engine? If it is like mine, it is sitting somewhere in a corner of the shop.
Or for smaller, fuel tank from old mower....you know the old cylindrical ones.
Cheers,

Can you post a pictureof what you are talking about?  I am having a hard time visualizing exactly what you are talking about in conjunction  with a radiator.  For an expansion tank, you do not need one nearly that large.  Why not use an actual coolant expansion tank?  A generic expansion tank is a pretty common auto parts store item...

Thanks for all of the replies for help. I believe this is why there is still hope for our Republic.

Here is a link to the generator. The second video shows the radiator with the 5-gallon plastic water bucket on top. I find that the hose going to the bucket gets warm and am wondering if the bucket is ok and I just need new hoses and fittings. The radiator overflow tank from the autoparts store looks like a good idea? The hoses will be smaller in diameter than the ones that I have now.
Thank you,
Jim
