I always used to call those flip floppy thingys "thongs" until the underwear of that name for guys came on the scene, and to me they are so disgusting that I won't even use the word unless I explain before hand what I mean. Yuk

Possibly my feelings toward that word stem from an unfortunate experience once in PE when the 'big guys" gave me a wedgy.
