Induction generators are always going to be less efficient than syncronous machies because yuo have to suply reactive power to the rotor and the associated losses that follow.

The PM alternators don't have this issue so they theoretical should be more efficient.

A PM alternator is only as good as its flux densities, if these aren't right then it was a waste of time and money since the only advatage they have over the regular syncronoius machine was not needing field excitation current. In all other respects they are only equal to inferior.

We've got about 150 hours on a JKSON 6/1 using one of George B's PMG 3KW heads. Charges a 24V bank of 85T-17 bats through a Magnum  MS4024 inverter/charger. No problems
