I'd love to have a genuine SOM with those lovely big flywheels.
Even if I could only have the engine, I'd still love have a Dursley built engine and  those SOM flywheels. I love my Metro 6/1,  but typical Rajkot quality is something you have to work around and bear with, and alas there are no SOM weight flywheels made in Rajkot.

Is there much demand for heavy flywheels? If so I am surprised someone has not got a batch made by now.

I looked into it a couple of years back, when the container shipment was still just an idea (hmmm); IIRC a small batch would work out at something like £180-200 per wheel at the foundry gate (including making the pattern, admittedly). Also, some of the Listeroids are internally balanced, so you'd need a 2nd pattern for those... definitely no point in having them cast in the UK.
Cheers!
