"all aluminum" What about piston, liner and crankshaft ? Geared cam, belt drive or chain ? interference valves?
And if they are EPA blessed, what about the Peoples Republic of California CARB ? (the same folks who invented the dribble gas can, you can't fit the nozzle in your car tank, sealed air tight, and when transferring fuel, more dribbles on the ground, than into the intended target)
Mike, with my limited understanding of English (i am a Malaysian chinese) , i hope to answer you correctly.
sorry, my bad. when i refer it as all aluminum, i was just referring to the cylinder head and the bottom block. i may have confused myseld with the automotive industry lingo as my toyota was advertised as a all alu D4D engine. btw, this is a 2.5L common rail, turbo direct injection diesel with 5 micro pulses per firing. thats what the brochure said.
the piston is of course alu. the rest are steel and some plastic parts.
talking about your CARB, goog old Ford of US of A in Malaysia had just introduced a new ranger 4x4 with 2.2 Lit VGT common rail diesel all alu engine and a 6 speed autobox. it has about 130hp and 300kNM of torque. within our highway speed limit of 68.75mph, the engine sings at 1900rpm!
i am beginning to suspect there is some sort of conspiracy thing going on by the auto indistry in not opting for fuel efficent vehicles in your country.
