Slow speed.....non diesel with 25,000lb flywheel

 Surprisingly enough, probably not much more than  a car body panel.

dieselman....250hp to drive the flywheel.
millman56.....Our 800ton used to do Cadillac body parts...cold.....we forge hot 1650f-2400f so it opens the options to more than sheetmetal...

Thats one big lump but what size the machine tools that worked it?

Not the best picture but as a machinist for 40 years I always wondered how they cut a herringbone gear. I would love to see it happen. I guess I should check out youtube you never know.

I would be afraid to stand there and take the movie! I bet it could spit serious steel if it decided to try and crawl up a tooth!

I found this after watching the herringbone getting cut on the side bar of other videos. There was one an old film from the 30's on the differential that was interesting and they went to a lot of work to explain how they worked. Then on the side bar of that video I watched this one. I would recommend it to anybody getting the slow speed diesel bug.
