What the heck?
« on: October 09, 2012, 11:09:32 PM »
Ok so what the heck is the story? I have an 8/1 and I get two different stories, some places I read the valve clearance should be .008 on both another place I read .017 intake .032 exaust, so what is it? I don't think it would run at .008 on both.

Just goes to show you can't believe Rajkot, the little newspaper pamphlet I got with the engine says .017 intake and .032 exhaust.

.017 and .032 is in reference to a 6/1, not the 8/1.  :)

That's quite interesting that the 8/1 would have such different valve clearances, I thought they were both pretty similar engines except the 8/1 ran quicker hence the extra couple of horses... very interesting indeed!

8/1 camshaft valve timing is considerably different than the 6/1 - tuned for an additional 200 rpm, thus different valve clearance specs. You are correct that the two are very close engines, same displacement and all, but different flywheels and pistons as well.
