New box for ST-15 (question)
« on: May 14, 2012, 12:38:16 AM »
I've run out of room in the electrical junction box atop my mighty ST-15 generator head.

I installed a conventional 115V dual plug outlet, a 230V generator receptacle, and a bank of capacitors along with a larger voltage regulator. The problem is that the box is simply too small for all of that.

I'd like something tough, and a bit larger. But, not huge. A hinged or easy access top would be great.

Suggestions please.

We have often used a plastic electrical junction box (grey, with watertight lids) from Home Depot for instrumentation. These are available in a number of sizes up to fairly large.

We have not had any cracking or failures due to vibration, even for set-mounted applications.

Some pictures of my ST15 mods. This type box came also came from Home Depot. There are beter quality water proof enclosers available at electrical supply houses but they do get expensive. Buy good lugs, the cheapos are hardly any better than the Chinese suppied junk. These came from Grainger.
