Doug....here's a post from Smokstak by Doug Waggonner, an Arrow employee in the states.  He documents the pedigree of the various Arrow engines.

"Arrow bought the C-Series line from Contential in the early 70's. Contential bought it from Waukesha in the early 50's who called it the Climax Engine....Waukesha designed it in the late 40's

Arrow bought the L-Series line from Lufkin in the 70's

Arrow bought the rights to the Witte Engine Works from National Oilwell when IT was owned by US Steel.

Arrow bought the 220 & 330 Waukesha line from Waukesha in the early 80's

We also used to built Lister gas comperssors. Not Lister engines.
Hopefully I havent confused matteres even more

I work in the Oil & Gas business up here in sunny warm (-10C and snowing) Alberta.
The Arrow engine is well known as a reliable workhorse up here.
Drives pumpjacks and hydraulic pumps throughout the industry for the past 50 years.
I enjoy looking at the cutaway models of these engines when they are displayed at the
National Petroleum show each year.
I think National Oilwell (Varco) is the distributor for these engines in Canada.

Hi  Veggie...Some people don't like the Arrow K6, they say the castings and gaskets are bad and the pushrods wear out fast.  Doug Waggonner counters that they are often run far faster than they 600 rpm they are designed for, often up to 1500 rpm and they are not serviced often enough to keep them up to snuff.

what's your opinion?

Not enough experience to have an opinion on this.
The one's that I have seen in the field were running very slow.
Thump...thump....thump....

Driving pump jacks 24/7 and running on natural gas or  diesel

The K6 was designed a diesel engine converted to natural gas.

Its roots are Petter, the castings are Indian and the nice American fellows saw how much potential it has for oil field use.

If I could aford it, I'd buy some convertion parts to play with my Petteroid as a NG engine.

If I had the money I'd buy a KOEL RB-33 ( tripple Petteroid ) and run it at 1000 RPM and see whart that was like too lol.

It's a Good Life, If You Don't Weaken

Came across this post while I was doing some research.  Anyone here have any experience with Arrow, specifically the smaller K-6 as opposed to the larger C-46, C-66 or C96?

Thanks

Hi Stan,

Did you see the Witte that is for sale up in Alaska.  Much of the foundation for Arrow from the looks of things.
