Small Diesel generator project
« on: January 23, 2012, 01:43:02 AM »
I'm planning out making up a mini Diesel generator to charge batteries, 25 amps @ 13.5 v will do it. I'm looking for a cheap watercooled single cylinder that i can run at slow rpm, 1000 max, for around 1.5 / 2 hp. The point is to get off Petrol, and move to Diesel at half the cost, and it must be very quiet, hence the low rpm. What engines are suitable ?

AVA1 maybe ?

That depends on where you are at?  If outside the US, you have a few options.  An indian clone lister if you cannot find an original.  Single cylinder, water cooled 6 HP@650 RPM...
PS 6/1 - ST-5.

Small, water cooled, diesel and quiet? Wow, I bet you like eggs with your beer too?? ;D

Be interested to see if anyone can satisfy all those requirements. I was thinking an R or YZ 165 type Chinese diesel but they dont meet the quiet part for sure.
Collector and horder of about anything diesel
