Looking for gen head replacement/upgrade for Lister SR3
« on: November 29, 2011, 08:51:26 PM »
It appears my original generator head is toast.  I am looking for recommendation on a replacement.  Is there a way to bolt on a new generator head?  If so, what should I be looking for?  My goal is to get a 10KW from Northern Tool or similar shop.

Specs/link:
Model - 10MS3-16M
Serial - MSR3Z00014

Thanks!

A number of single-bearing (SAE housing) heads will fit properly... LIMA MAC would be the best possible but are pricey.

Best cost might be to get a Stamford clone from Tom Osborne.

We have a number available but are in the $1200 price range.

Thanks - I have an email over to him.  I just need to get the measurements over to him.

With proper Lister adapters your engine will match up to SAE5 or SAE4 on the housing & SAE 6 1/2 at the drive hub. Stamford and LIMA both made certain models that either conform to this spec or are custom fitted for your Lister model. There is a problem with the clone heads in that they are not able to make the jump between SAE specs and Lister specs. I have gone over this with Tom as well as some Chinese engineers at point of manufacture more than once, and still having translation difficulties. Best bet seems to be use of the adapters and SAE standard specs.

there some 30kva up on ebay for 1275 delivered it is only a 15 to 20 kva once you correct for temp rise.
yes you will need an adaptor
you can also use mecc units which will bolt directly to the engine I bought one for a tr3 for 1450 new these are 12 lead reccectable so you actully useing a 32 kva generator.
