Dieselgman, number question ?
« on: December 13, 2011, 02:20:42 PM »
What do the numbers 6 mean on this engine. I thought this was an 8/1. It make no difference if it is a 1/1 or 20/1, inquiring minds want to know.  I also don't know how to use "a' and "an" with a number. Should have stayed in school. :D

The number Six (6) on those castings refers to assembly number of the major components. This is a packing number to help keep matched components together. The unit pictured is an 8/1 engine.

Grammar and spelling are mostly optional these days. I usually find myself slipping into conversational slang and odd writing style due to a lot of fast email type communications.

Yo!  Bra.  (Pidgin for Bro  ;D)

An "an" is for the next word starting with a vowel.  Such as an a.   :police:

an one, a two, a three ..... an eight, a six.

Actually, now that I've thought about it, I'm almost as uncertain as dieselgman.

Bluesky,

Butch (38ac) has one of the 8/1 kits at his shop already... no more stock here for awhile except for a few of the 6/1 kits and a couple of the grandfathered KOEL 8/1s left over.

We should replenish stocks within 90 days though.

My DES 8/1 has been running for 28 straight days now, today it gets shut down, oil drain, rinse out with kerosene new oil new oil filter, then check for anything that might need attention then restart.

Is that almost 100,000 hours?  ;D

To fabricator and fuelfarmer:

Your math is way off....28 days X 24 hours per day is more like 672,000 hours. Use a calculator if in doubt ;D ;D ;D
