That's not very far from me. Assuming it's in good shape, what do you guys think about the asking price ($2600)?

$2600 is not too much to ask considering current conditions, but that is good only IF you wanted a Metro. As I understand it, these are downsized engines and unique to themselves.

I would not offer more than $2000 myself (if I was in the market). Our 6/1 CS standard kit (full size) can be purchased for $1990 and accept all the standard Lister parts. Ours come with our own warranty and a solid business behind the sale. We have the full size KOEL 8/1 units priced at $2750.

The market price is being driven by perceived scarcity more than anything else... maybe these are not as scarce as some would assume!

Thanks for that Carl! I must have the Metro confused with one of the other brands then.

Some are "standard" as clones go meaning an IDI 4 stud head and roller mains without an oil pump and some are not. My Metro has a odd looking DI head on it. You can see a pic of it over on the CS forum under the paint topic.  Probably not a steal nor a terrible buy at that price when you consider its close. There is a 6/1 Metro selling east of you at auction in two weeks, I posted it in the for sale section.

Thanks, guys. I was thinking it was about $1K too high for just a 6/1 engine of unknown origin.

Yes, right, sorry, I should have said "from a private party" not "unknown origin"  ;D

Dont think so if it is as discribed, new singles and kits are at the nice round figure of 2K plus shipping.  Add $400 to get one to your door and his price is not far off. It does seem that 'roids are lots more valuable in the NE than anywhere else iin the country,, but then so is everything else ;D

Well, it disappeared - somebody flagged it - probably that fruitcake in Hartford who's been trying for years to sell his 6/1 for $4600.
