Yes you could, but it must be modulated to maintain stable output AC as the load changes.   That is basically what an AVR does...

Thanks for the answers.

I am going to add the flywheel weight to the gen head. I will also try horsepoor's additional engine flyhweel. Sooner or later, I'll tame this thing.

Chris,

Correction, the flywheel I have is spoked, identical to what you on your engine now, since my engine came in with yours back in 2005 from the sme batch. All you have to do is fancy paint it with fome of that $300 gallon Gulfstream 5 paint.

That paint cost more than $300 a gallon.  i had to buy a quart of Imron 5000 paint, some thinner and some primer to repaint the cowling on my Piper a couple of years ago and it was a little over $400.  :o

Bought a quart of white paint, pint of hardener and a quart of thinner last week. Was over $200! This is out of control. And, it's not even that great a paint. Concept DCC.

Next time you are at SAV you could ask the paint shop guys for expired paint that they usually throw away.  I have used some of the expired Jet Glow with excelent results.  Price was right!
