3 1/2 cs bolt question
« on: May 21, 2006, 06:21:26 AM »
can anyone tell me the diameter and length of the 4 hold down bolts for a 3 1/s cs lister. The reason I ask is that I am due to pick up a 3 1/2 650 rpm lister in a few days, and I would like to bolt it onto a pallet with 1" thick timber to stop it moving sideways on the trailer. The engine is a 3 hour drive away, so it is impractical to go and check myself.
I have inspected the machine, but forgot to check this detail.
I heard it running, and can hardly wait.
thanks
Peter

You could always buy a 3 foot piece of "Allthread" and eight nuts and take your hack saw along.  Then they'll be exactly as long as you want.

Good luck, have fun and keep us posted!

Peter,
The above image is a close up of one of the four feet of my Fuking brand 6/1 engine.  The white ruler is in the picture for scale, the casting is 1-1/2" thick.  The bolt is 1/2" diameter, if my memory serves me correctly, the hole in the casting is considerably larger than 1/2".

Best regards,

Well I picked up the new cs 3 1/2 without any mishaps. It appears to be in original condition and I actually heard it run before buying it. for a photo see

Next project is to check it over hoping not to find too many unpleasant surprises

cheers
