« on: May 24, 2011, 09:57:44 PM »
Well,
I Am Extremely Wonderstruck That Why So Many Listeriods Are Rotting In India  .Here Have a Look At This .I Went To My Uncles Place Few Months Back and this 1 Man Had These Many In His House Knowing Noting What To Do With Them .Other Then thinking Of Disposing Them To Yard And Selling The Iron By the Kg Damn  .

These Are Old Extremely Heavy And Beautiful Listeriods "Some Of Them Are Near 90% Cloned To The Original Lister CS  .Out of curiosity i spoke to another uncle of mine .He said he had 16 with him  .Then i spoke to the third he had 8  .Hell guys one village had approx 50 + of them and all stripped and thrown away rotting at some place  .What to tell these fellows  ? .

If they were in 1 piece, I'd say box em up and sell em to guys over here.  :D

Now if they had documentation showing their production date prior to the EPA ban could they then be more easily imported?

What are the rules regarding the importation of recyclable iron and steel?

So it's entirely feasible to fix em up and sell em.  :)

Yes ,
But The Issue is How To Export Them .Making Generators Out Of Them Seems To Be a Good Thingie Though  .Will Look into That Prospective  .

Well Bear,
i am quoting you a old post i had done months ago

Quote
They have no clue :
People in india have no clue what they should be doing with lister engines they have taken out from thier farms .All of These Engines are rotting out in some of thier rooms in thier houses .There is no one to explain them what they should be doing with the same .Some People Sell Complete Engines For Mere USD 175/- By Weight Of Iron ,This is very sad  .People now have submersible tubewells in thier farms that run by electricity .Only during the elections people here get electricity properly otherwise we have electrical cuts off and on .They do not even have a idea that they can still use that lister engine in the same place to power up the submersible pumps .The alternator made here generally are garbage quality but there are poeple who make excellent alternators also .No mechanic has knowledge about inductive and capacitive load  ,they buy wrong things for the wrong work blaming a poor lister for all the bad things happening  . So the story ends that someone needs to educate them ,explain them so that they understand more about this engine and its potential usage like alternative fuels etc etc .I have thousands of pictures now in my laptop that i am going to upload in my website for the benefit of people here and abroad so that you understand whats going on here in india .In My next posts i would also explain you about the state of the industry of lister engines here in india stay tuned

Well,
There are people and assemblers that do know how to assemble a near perfect lister ,Close your eyes and get one if you wanna buy one  .

BTW : Welcome to the forums

Those look like single stage air compressor pumps to me, they look like they are meant to be belt driven to compress air into a storage tank. ;)

Oops- Shows you what I know...  ;D

Proceeds from those right there running would pay for the cargo container.

These could be brought into the USA for an approximate cost of $6000 in a 20' container... providing they were documented and serial numbered and proven to pre-date the onset of EPA emissions regulations. You would need an actual manufacturers certification to avoid a problem and the machinery would have to be manufactured prior to 1999 I believe. Another option would be to pay someone to dismantle and crate the individual pieces. I believe that bottom-line, it is still better overall to purchase a current production machine as parts and just build your own. Someone should be able to make a business of collecting and rebuilding and reselling those things right where they are situated. As enterprising as most Indians seem to be, that should be a more viable and practical use. Now, if someone could find Dursley originals, that is a whole other situation... we would be all over it!

It seems like getting several containers full of current manufacture engines with serial numbers and documentation to prove they were manufactured before the new standards would be pretty easy to do coming from a place like India.
