Hmm, to be honest, I'm not very thrilled by these Chinese engines. Part of my interest for low RPM engines is , well the whole feeling
. There are a lot of various small (similar to the one you show here) engines out on the used market here, they are rather cheap too! But the main reason I'm not buying one is ,that this isn't really what I want. Probably the simplest way for me would be to buy a complete diesel or gasoline fired genset, I could get one for a relatively low price (a couple hundred bucks for a complete 4-5 kW genset). But it wouldn't be the same as building my own
.
Meanwhile , after some further digging, I found out, that the BL-7 would be the best choice for me. They are quite durable and reliable, and a bit more "modern" than the MIA/MIB types. I am in contact with a guy who would sell one, refurbished and in good condition (at least he tells me, I'll need to see that for myself). He's asking 280 USD for it. This engine can do 4.5-7.5 HP (850-1200 RPM). Unfortunately the parts supply is virtually non existent, so if something needs to be replaced it most probably has to be made.
Ah and a BIG suprise today! I found a Hungarian company that actually manufactures and sells (or just sells, not sure about that), gensets with , little pause....a lister engine! Yup! And that's not all, these systems are actually cogenerating, utilizing the waste heat as well!
It came as a bit of a shock, albeit a good one!
Here's an actual picture of their product:
I have allready contacted them about pricing. They also have a demonstration farm, which I plan to visit to take a look! I'll take photos of course
.
Ah and here's a link to a page dealing with this system of theirs, on their website. It's in Hungarian , but I think you'Ll understand most of it, let me know if not, I'll gladly translate!
