I've got a photo ready to go but couldn't work out how to post it, I'll try again later.

Working on the wife's car today, water system froze the other day and broke the water pump. Water pump is driven by the cam belt so quite an involved job and the cars a Citroen so its going to be a horrible job with everything I touch breaking and about an inch and a halfs space in which to work.

If it ain't broke tinker with it anyway!

  All other factors identical? Generator voltage is directly proportional to generator rpms.

An AC generator ( alternator ) has a high internal impeadence. So if nothing else changes as far as RPM is concerned AND you don;t increase the field current volatge will naturlay droop as load increases.

Thats where having a resistor tap and possibly a cap in your Field circut come into play to help tune and adjust. So you need to get your governer working as well as possible and adjust your field current if needed. Some might even go so far as to use an aftermarket AVR.
